Abstract
An updated critical catalogue of the suborder Cyphophthalmi (Opiliones) is presented. The catalogue comprises all taxa (including synonymies) described until December 2020. All the taxa (families and below) have been registered at ZooBank and integrated into the World Catalogue of Opiliones resources online at TaxonWorks. The new catalogue almost doubles the number of species published until 2000, and includes 233 valid species (one with two subspecies), 10 of which are here elevated from subspecies to species. The current species count is 79 for Pettalidae, 58 for Sironidae, 40 for Neogoveidae, 37 for Stylocellidae, 13 for Troglosironidae, 3 for Ogoveidae and 3 of uncertain familial assignment, plus three taxa remain as nomina dubia. Ten New Zealand subspecies have been elevated to species: Aoraki calcarobtusa (Forster, 1952) stat. nov., Aoraki inerma (Forster, 1948) stat. rev., Aoraki stephenensis (Forster, 1952) stat. nov., Aoraki westlandica (Forster, 1952) stat. nov., Rakaia australis Forster, 1952 stat. nov., Rakaia digitata Forster, 1952 stat. nov., Rakaia insula Forster, 1952 stat. nov., Rakaia magna Forster, 1948 stat. rev., Rakaia media Forster, 1948 stat. rev. and Rakaia sorenseni Forster, 1952 stat. nov
